State legislators welcome 50+ delegation from NoVa

Although the weather was cold, the reception was warm as 10 state lawmakers met with a delegation of 50+ Committee members, part of Fairfax County Democratic Committee, in Richmond on Jan. 17.

The 50+ members discussed key issues for seniors with legislators, including mobile voting in long term care facilities, creation of an elder care abuse registry, and ensuring staffing levels of nursing homes meet the federal guidelines lawmakers.

Sen. Dave Marsden (D- 37) and Del. Karrie Delaney (D-67 ) recognized the group from the floor of the Senate and House , while Marsden also gave the group, numbering 17, a tour of the Capitol.

Other legislators taking part in education and advocacy discussions were: Sens. Dick Saslaw (D-35), Janet Howell (D- 32), Chap Petersen (D- 34), George Barker (D- 39), and Scott Surovell (D-36 ). On the House side, Dels. David Bulova (D-37 ), Kathy Tran (D-42 ) and Eileen Filler-Corn (D-41 ) joined Delaney in welcoming the group.
